We are delighted to welcome Sean Desmond as a recent recruit to the Pamir team, where he will be leading our work in combining our unique knowledge-gathering technology with Chinese language and cultural expertise to better inform clients facing difficult decisions regarding activities within and with China.

Sean brings a wealth of knowledge from several disciplines, together with practical experience in extracting value from data. Pamir has developed its own proprietary data collection methodology supplemented by ground-truth insights. This information we gather, and the analysis that is made possible, is unrivalled.

Sean spent 15 years in the CIA’s Directorate of Science and Technology making significant contributions to programs to help the CIA regain advantages in several industries. Sean was also a senior policy analyst for international telecommunications in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and represented Director, OSTP on the Committee for Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

More recently, Sean served as the Chief Data Officer for BlackLynx, Inc. which merged with Jacobs Technology, Inc. in 2021. He holds a BS in Physics from the United States Naval Academy and a Master’s in Engineering Physics from the University of Virginia.

As rising geo-political tensions continue to affect US organizations with operations in China, Sean’s experience will bolster Pamir’s capabilities in safeguarding both the existing operations and future investments of US corporations in China.

Specifically, growing economic trends suggest China’s “all-of-society competition” demands a counter-perspective for United States economic interests that bridge the divide between commercial and government value paradigms.  Sean’s experience will be put to use in driving solutions to help bridge the divide between our commercial and government clients.  Part of his efforts will include developing go-to-market strategies by adapting years of Pamir insights in these areas to the current economic climate.

Many US companies have reaffirmed their commitments to China. However, overseas organizations of all sizes that are operational in China need to pro-actively protect themselves against IP threats, regulatory changes - and more.

Our research and analysis teams have unmatched deep domain knowledge, unrivalled local connections, and unique methodology. This stems back to the DNA of our company and in-depth practical expertise within China and greater Asian region.

Pamir analysts ensure that US businesses can safely and securely operate in China – and help them to identify, understand, manage, and confront current and emergent risks.
